Alexandre Dumas is one of the great French writers, author of the Three Musketeers, Count of Monte Cristo, and other classics. "Yes, but I hear he was a real dumb ass," a friend once japed. And to everyone's amazement he got away with that rude remark, and many worse.

Sun, December 14, 2003 - 12:48 AMThat's almost as bad as the pun that got me into a lot of trouble in a high school art class. They were showing us a Jackson Pollock painting and I said in an Archie Bunker voice, "Looks like something a POLOCK would paint!"
